Student Information School Council The Tamahere School Council is a group of children representing their class. They get together to discuss complaints and ideas. We also meet to prepare for events such as the school disco. We try to make our school a fun place to be...and learn.
All the councillors are expected to come to every monthly meeting. There are 13 councillors and the Principal runs the meetings.
Being a school councillor is very exciting because we can represent our class. I like the meetings because I can report back to my class about what is happening and offer solutions.
We have meetings once a month for 30 minutes. Sometimes we organise additional meetings.
Once we collected Kan-Tabs (can lids) from aluminium cans. Each councillor made a collection box for their class. At the end of the year, we will collect the boxes and hand them to the Principal. She will then get them melted into 50c coins. The Kan-Tabs also support kids with kidney problems as each Kan-Tab saves a second of a child’s life.
If you would like to email us about a problem - or offer a suggestion – please feel free do so. schoolcouncil@tamahereschool.ac.nz
